First train arrival at Stockholm Norvik Port
The first scheduled freight train has rolled into the new freight port, Stockholm Norvik Port, along the new industrial
branch line. Ports of Stockholm constructed the railway line to provide greater sustainable transport possibilities and to
increase the range of transport alternatives to and from the port. On Tuesday 9th June the first Green Cargo train arrived
at Stockholm Norvik Port on the newly built industrial branch line. Ports of Stockholm has built just over four kilometres of
industrial branch line to couple Stockholm Norvik Port to the Swedish railway network; an investment of SEK 800 million.
Industrial branch line facts
Ø A 4400 metre-long branch line
Ø An additional 360 metres of track on the port esplanade
Ø A railway yard with three 750 metre-long tracks
Ø A 100 metre-long siding
Stockholm Norvik Port opened in May 2020 and consists of two parts. One part is the container terminal that replaces the
Container Terminal at the Frihamnen Port. This will be run by Hutchison Ports, one of the world’s largest container
terminal operators, with 52 ports in 27 countries. The other part of the port is a RoRo terminal for rolling goods that will
be run by Ports of Stockholm and will open during the autumn. Source : portnews
Final Containership Leaves Stockholm's Frihamnen Port
The unloading of the final containership at the Frihamnen port in Stockholm marks the end of an era.
The 1,349 TEU Dutch-flagged containership ESSENCE unloaded the final cargo at Frihamnen on June 1, but the CTF
container terminal will remain open until June 23 to allow customers to collect the last of their containers. Going forward,
Stockholm's container cargoes will be redirected to the city's new freight port, Stockholm Norvik Port, which recently
opened and is better equipped and ore strategically located to enable direct transport to the growing Stockholm region.
“It feels wonderful to finally be able to open Stockholm Norvik Port, but we are also very proud that we have been able to
provide such efficient container handling all the way to the end at Frihamnen port. With incredibly dedicated and
professional personnel, as well as customers willing to work with us, we have been able to handle 40 lifts per hour, all the
way to the final container,” explains Johan Wallén, Marketing and Sales Manager at Ports of Stockholm.
The new port contributes to achieving sustainable transport direct to the growing Stockholm region by being able to
handle larger vessels, with shorter approaches to the port, in addition to more efficient handling. The container terminal
at Stockholm Norvik Port is now open, both for vessel calls and shore-based business operations. The container terminal
is run by Hutchison Ports, which operates at 52 ports in 27 countries. Work is ongoing to complete the other part of

Denk dat het voor zowel de schepen als milieu een hele verbetering is. In plaats van de wonderschone maar moeilijke invaart naar hartje Stockholm nu naar Nynäshamn. Dat ligt toch een behoorlijk stuk buiten Stockholm. Voor containers is dat prima. Voor Ferry en Cruise blijft het Frihamn.
Norvik Stockholm te noemen is commercieel begrijpelijk maar iets uit de koers. Vanuit Frihamn ben je zo in het centrum van Stockholm. Daarentegen vanuit Nynäshamn is het toch een uurtje rijden.

Onze zoon met zweedse vrouw wonen en werken daar,
reacties mogen per PB, lijkt me leuk.
Momenteel een moeilijk project onder handen, een reactie kan dus even duren, sorry!
