See https://images.beneluxspoor.net/bnls/Roco614.jpg Firstly, I thank you for letting me join and I apologise for writing in English. I can just about read Dutch. I have visited the Netherlands eight times between 1971-2016. I have built up quite a decent model collection. Model history, publicity materials like Timetables, the British trains in the Netherlands, these things fascinate me. I have several of the Roco English 08 style diesel shunter. In the linked photo is one that I bought off Ebay, numbered NS 614. My question is that despite having a lot of sources about Roco, I cannot find it in a catalogue. It was sold on Ebay as a kit. I am sure it is not and is a factory finished Roco model. I really would like to know if anyone can explain its origins. I have some public links to Dutch materials https://www.facebook.com/robert.forsythe.39/media_set?set=a.1236751003065319.1073741883.100001912940850&type=3 or https://www.flickr.com/photos/49212920@N03/albums/72157629070989473 and https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=256246971115732&set=a.717015978372160.1073741853.100001912940850&type=3&theater .

Hi Robert,
you will find more info here for google translate https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/NS_500 (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/NS_500) the Dutch nickname is Hippel and it was indeed in the Roco programme, last time I guess 2- 3 years ago.
hope this helps

The model first appeared in the Roco catalogue in the late 1970's and has been sold over the years in several liveries with always a new number. The 614 was in a green 1960's livery and was on the market about 10 years ago with cataloguenumber 43397. The model was already technically ugraded (new motor, etc.) but was not dcc ready yet.
The older versions are easyly recognised by the visible screw on top in the middle of the body, like your loco has. The screw dissapeared in a later upgrade of the model. Roco produced two numbers of the older version in yellow-grey livery: 657 and 622. So one possibility is a renumbered Roco 657 or 622. Renumbering is easy and often done.
It must be said that 657 had black headlights and 622 had yellow headlights Your loco seems to have grey headlights in the same colour as the grey on the body. So a total or partial respray is not impossible either. The large headlights are seperate parts and coloured seperately by Roco. Perhaps you can tell whether the headlights are coloured seperately or not. If not, than it is probably a respray.

Hi Robert,
would be nice if this mystery could be solved by the members of this forum. In a short attempt the only 614 I could find was one in green livery (can be seen here (http://www.floodland.nl/aim/info_614_v5246_1.htm)).
Not a trace from a yellow 614.
Are you sure it is an original Roco-model and not a custom made one? There are, for sure, some guys with wonderfull skills, who would be able to make it look like a factory finished model.

I think it is a custom home made version.
Here are my reasons for saying that,i started searching for roco NS 614,that gave me this link:
http://www.british-ho.com/showcase/traction-diesel/roco_060diesels_1.htm (http://www.british-ho.com/showcase/traction-diesel/roco_060diesels_1.htm)
It shows the following description:Dark green w. single yellow stripe, and i got a roco artikel number there,43397.
So most logical was to see what i would find with roco 43397 as search tekst, that got me this
https://www.roco.cc/uploads/documents/pdf/1/43397_ET-Blatt.pdf (https://www.roco.cc/uploads/documents/pdf/1/43397_ET-Blatt.pdf)
If you look at that picture, and compare that with the description from the first link i would say it also has the stripe so therefore i guess the colours will be also the same.
When you get twice the same result and compare that with your example, you can only conclude that someone wanted something else and started repainting of this model ;)
Hope that this solves your questions/problems ;D

Thanks for your various replies. It must seem likely that a previous owner repainted it. But they made a very good job of it. :) . I have the Roco release of 523 in NS logoed green and also the one in Danish DSB green. Indeed there really was one. If I ever see the Lima model in Dutch livery that would tempt me.

Here is some pretty updated info you may find interesting: http://www.british-ho.com/ -> Diesel -> Roco English Electric 0-6-0 diesel shunter (Class 08/09/11)

Bit expensive for a Lima.

The grey-yellow version with number 622 is also an updated version, without screw on top.
Clearly visible here:

So this must be a respayed 657, 523 or 517 (last mentioned was the VSM preserved version, later traded for the 532 which they still own nowadays.

Later Roco came with a 634 in grey-yellow livery, without NS logo:

Newest issue is this 529;
